All of us are called in virtue of our Baptism to be active participants in the life of the Church. As the Church embarks on this synodal journey, we must strive to ground ourselves in experiences of authentic listening and discernment on the path of becoming the Church that God calls us to be (Vademecum 1.2).

Isabel Caridad Fernandez, PhD. is the Director of Mission Effectiveness for the Office of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Orlando. She is responsible for oversight of Catholic identity, campus ministry, religion curriculum and the professional development of faculty and catechists in matters of religion and faith formation. For 15 years, she has been involved in various aspects of catechetical formation of children and adults as a Director of Faith Formation for and a facilitator for catechist formation.
Dr. Fernandez is an adjunct professor for Saint Leo University; she graduated from the University of Dayton in Ohio (PhD. In Theology) and Florida State University (M.A. in Religious Studies). She lives in East Orlando with her family and awesome dogs.
