'San Damiano Society': ICONS: Windows to Heaven

Time: 9:00 am-2:00 pm

As a representation of holy figures and events, icons are not simply artwork but images that convey God’s story connecting us to the mystery of the incarnation.  In this presentation, we will discuss the symbolic language of iconography and look at the history, origin, features, and intended spiritual purposes of icons in the Church. We will discuss how icons can help deepen our faith by pointing us to the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. 


Coffee and Breakfast are served at 9:00 am.

The program begins at 9:30 am followed by lunch and ends with Mass at 1:00 pm.

Cost: $18 per person

Meet Our Speaker!

Lydia Britton is a seasoned liturgist, musician, and catechetical leader. Having spent the past 30+ years working in parishes and schools within the Diocese of Orlando, she has a special devotion for bringing a deeper love and understanding of liturgy to the heart of the faithful. She has been a course facilitator for various Diocesan adult catechetical programs and is a frequent guest speaker for conferences and retreats.

Lydia holds a master’s degree in theology and Christian spirituality and is currently working on a Doctor of Theology degree. She currently serves as Director of Faith Formation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Orlando.
