Cardinal Zen, a native of China and retired Bishop of Hong Kong, is one of the most knowledgeable and credible witnesses to what is happening in China today, especially regarding the suffering Church. He has been a courageous defender of the underground Church, and has been outspoken in his opposition to the recent Vatican agreement with the Communist government, seeing it as a betrayal to the suffering Catholics in China. This book presents his insights into the past and present conditions of the persecuted Chinese Church.
